Orlando Pirates legend Happy Jele has just found a new football home as he was unveiled by Royal AM on Friday morning.
Jele is one of the longest-serving Pirates players and his departure at the end of the previous DStv Premiership campaign left the sports family in disbelief.
Owned by businesswoman, Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize, the Durban-based club also unveiled a new coach in the form of John Maduka who rejoined the club on Thursday as reported by ESA Sport.
Jele, who is approaching 300 Premier Soccer League matches has been without a club since the end of last season when he left the Buccaneers and will add value to the Royal defence.
“We are excited to have you around, Welcome aboard! Happy Jele,” announced the club on Twitter.
The club welcomed the former Bafana Bafana defender with a one-line media statement on their social media platforms on Friday morning.
However, it remains unclear if ‘Magents’ who has been training with the club for the past few days, will be available for selection for the KwaZulu-Natal derby as they face Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday.

“El capitano. It will be interesting to see him play outside Orlando Pirates. I rate him very highly.”
@Tman posted:
“Football is a very dishonest sport. You can serve with loyalty and pride for years, then boom you’re out.”
@Ayanda reacted:
“Royal AM is Orlando Pirates lite, first it was them buying our number one supporter @JoyChauke5 now they have my former captain.”
Royal now occupies the 12th spot on the log table with 21 points having played 18 games – Thwihli Thwahla are six points above the relegation zone and have managed just a point in their past three games.
