Just before he hosts the highly anticipated Grammy Awards ceremony slated for this weekend, South African comedian Trevor Noah is a laughing stock on social media.
The Johannesburg-born entertainer got the surprise of his life when he was blocked by security officers who confiscated his Afro comb at the airport.
Noah headed to Instagram and shared the funny post and his experience while making his way into the airport recently.
The South Africa-born and US-based comedian revealed his Afro comb was confiscated by airport security before he jetted off to Mexico after kick-starting his comedy tour.
Trevor said security officers were not sure what to make of the comb and he posted the snaps on his Instagram page.
“Afro comb confiscated by airport security. They said they don’t know what it is,” he wrote, sharing a picture of the incident.
From the start of his career, Trevor had been known for his trim cut until he decided to grow out his hair.
During an episode on The Daily Show, Trevor said he couldn’t see his barber and there was no way he would cut his hair himself. And after realising how nice it was to have an Afro, he decided to keep it.
“What happened was really interesting. At some point, I was like ‘oh, I forgot how fun it is to have hair, especially an Afro’. Small things you don’t think about that you don’t appreciate with an afro like one, my head is never hot nor cold anymore. On a hot day, I’m fine. On a cold day, I’m fine,” he said.
In a recent post, Entertainment SA reported that Noah said he has all the freedom in his hands as he just started 2023 and talked about life after the Daily Show.
After spending the holidays in Qatar, South Africa, and Costa Rica, Noah is back in the United States and appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night.
During their conversation, Colbert asked Noah how he was adjusting to no longer having to get up and prep for a talk show every day.
