Visuals: Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes laid to rest in Westpark Cemetery

There is no doubt that it was a tough and emotional week for South Africans especially those in the music space following the death of rapper AKA.

Born Kiernan Forbes, AKA was finally laid to rest on Saturday in a private funeral ceremony at Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg.

As scores of South African music lovers were in disbelief for the entire week digesting the news, Entertainment SA looks at the images that surfaced on social media.

This website understands that the media was not allowed to capture the proceedings which reportedly began at 10:00 but we managed to source some footage and snaps of the late muso.

AKA was shot and killed in Durban last Friday together with his friend Tebello Motsoane, just outside Florida Road’s Wish restaurant.

His memorial service was held at the iconic Sandton Convention Centre on Friday which saw big names in the SA entertainment industry coming together to mourn the artist.

While the memorial service was live streamed and the public was also invited to attend, the funeral service was completely private, but it seems that it was not all that private as visuals of the final moments of the rapper on the earth have surfaced on social media.

Taking a glance at some of the images and footage, mourners can be seen at the cemetery coupled with visuals of the body of the rapper’s body being lowered in his final resting place.

Moreover, the snaps also show his family and father, Tony, watching with tears as he bid his eldest son his final goodbye.
