When Hip-Hop was preoccupied with the spat between Cassper Nyovest and late Hip-Hop star Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, the world of “English accents” was preoccupied with the feud between Sizwe Dhlomo and Vusi Thembekwayo. A twar that began in the mid-2010s has now lasted into the 2020s.
This comes after Vusi resumed his public feud with Sizwe during his most recent in-depth interview with notorious podcaster Paneul “The Black Pen.” While the interview focused on Thembekwayo’s recent comments about apartheid being more capable than the present ruling party, his feelings about his rivalry with Sizwe drew the most attention.
A peek at the latest twar by Sizwe Dhlomo and Vusi Thembekwayo.
It all started when portions of his thoughts on Sizwe Dhlomo from the previously stated and discussed interview were published on Twitter. Sizwe fuelled their social media back-and-forth in an attempt to trend, according to Vusi, since if he was genuine about stating that Vusi plagiarised his earlier words, he could have phoned.
Vusi then went on to say that his respect for Sizwe was shattered when he began to insult his children in an attempt to keep his name trending on social media. Furthermore, Vusi was convinced that Sizwe was the one who was enamoured with him, chirping anytime he trended on social media.
Sizwe then learned about the interview and the video footage of Vusi yelling at him. Sizwe, it’s safe to say, had a lot to say. First and foremost, he denied ever discussing about Vusi’s children. This was demonstrated when footage from his most recent Podcats and Chill interview were shared.
The video shows Sizwe allegedly alleging that Vusi was abusive to his wife at the time. Allegations that Vusi has refuted and has since ceased speaking about, since it appears that they achieved a legal and consensual arrangement as a family following their divorce.
Nevertheless, what seemed to perplex many tweeps was Sizwe’s suggestion that Vusi was doing all of this PR and podcasting because he was aware of financial difficulties. While Thembewkayo’s finances are unknown, the misconception arose since Sizwe had also done Podcast and Chill, which did not imply that he was broke. As a result, the connection with Vusi performing his own podcast run was difficult to grasp.
Sizwe’s most recent tweet at Vusi was a joke about Vusi speaking in isiZulu. This is because his accent and usage of English had previously been the subject of many jokes, with Sizwe suggesting that he was speaking isiZulu to appear more sympathetic and modest.
Sizwe may have labelled Vusi on the majority of his original thoughts directed towards him. Vusi appears to be sticking to his guns in refusing to explicitly associate himself with Sizwe. This is because, despite being tagged in a number of tweets aimed at him by Sizwe and his fans, he has not reacted directly to Sizwe.
Instead, he took use of the fact that he was trending again to postpone his own commercial projects alongside the interview. All he said was that the interview had taken two years to prepare and that he was glad for the opportunity to communicate his previously polarising views in his own words, as nuanced as possible.
