Mfundi Vundla, the creator of Generations: The Legacy, discusses how he cheated death after being diagnosed with oesophagal cancer. The well-known television executive is overjoyed to be alive to tell the tale.
Many individuals have been moved by Mfundo Vundla’s story of nearly dying yet resurrecting. Vundla describes how he survived death three times and the difficulties he faced while hospitalised.
According to the City Press, the 76-year-old was trapped between a rock and a hard place after suffering from agonising chest symptoms. When he went to see his doctor, he was informed there was nothing to worry about. But, in February of last year, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and Vundla feels lucky to be alive today.
“I knocked on death’s door three times. Believe me, it was not a pretty sight. I’m 76 years old and people in my age group or older are felled by heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and buckets of other chronic ailments. February last year I’m diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. This after I complained to my cardiologist about chest pains – a series of them – especially when I was eating” reports City Press
That seemed like a hilarious letter addressed from one buddy to another. Vundla begins with “Dear Chommie,” which is slang for “Dear Friend.” Vundla, overcome with pleasure, joy, and thankfulness, recounts how he remained firm with his doctor, who originally discounted his chest problems as anything concerning or dangerous.
The Generations: The Legacy creator was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer after being sent to a gastroenterologist. While the bulk of Vundla’s age group is dealing with ailments like diabetes, heart attacks, and strokes, he has escaped unscathed. Cancer, on the other hand, is a fatal sickness that can be cured if treated as soon as possible.
“My heart doctor dismissed my complaints, insisting I was chasing shadows. Making things up. I put my foot down. Demanded he refer me to a gastroenterologist. Chommie, that’s a fancy word for a doctor who specialises in pushing a small camera down the oesophagus and into the stomach. As the camera moves south it takes images of growths on tissue walls.” reports City Press
Vundla recently came under criticism after it was revealed that Connie Ferguson and Rapulana Seiphemo, who play Karabo Moroka and Tau Mogale on Generations: The Legacy, will reprise their roles. Outraged viewers have already slammed Vundla for ignoring Mzansi’s new and fresh talent while recycling old talent.
“I’m gonna need them to stop they can’t save generations it’s far too gone to be saved, Mfundi Vundla and the SABC must let it go as well.” wrote Tsholofelo
