Defensive MaMkhize hits back at her son Andile Mpisane’s critics

Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize has come to the defence of her son, Andile Mpisane, who is also the club chairman.

The youngest chairman in the history of the Premier Soccer League has come under heavy criticism in recent times as many people question his footballing skills.

However, his mother MaMKhize, believes South Africans are yet to see the best of his son as she was speaking to SABC radio.

Mpisane, who has previously been lauded as a ‘skillful’ player by former coaches at Royal AM and Royal Eagles, made three appearances in the second-tier for the club but has yet to make the pitch in the DStv Premiership since they bought the status of Bloemfontein Celtic.

The 21-year-old footballer made his professional debut back in December 2018 when he came off the bench for Royal Eagles in a win over Witbank Spurs.

In a recent appearance, he featured for the Diski Challenge side when they met AmaZulu.

He was on the bench for the senior team in September, when the club lost 1-0 to Richards Bay before taking to the field in the Macufe Cup win over Kaizer Chiefs.

While he doesn’t play regularly for the KwaZulu-Natal club, Mpisane looks unfit and whenever he gets a chance to play, he tends to showboat and doesn’t look that concerned about the overall performance of the team.

“Andile was playing for AmaZulu, long before…Yes, in its development stage. He wouldn’t have entered AmaZulu if he didn’t have talent,” MaMkhize told Andile Ncube on Sports Night Amplified.

“If you look at the people that scout for people who play for AmaZulu, they only look for talent. Andile at his youngest age was already playing for AmaZulu. So he would have (qualified)…

“If you look at the people that scouts for AmaZulu they only look for talent. Andile at his youngest age, he was already playing for AmaZulu.”

“So he would have [been a player] because he would’ve grown from AmaZulu. Maybe he would’ve been an AmaZulu player, not even a Royal AM player.”
