Following his departure from English Premier League club Liverpool, Sadio Mane believes the club will bounce back to its glory days.
Mane was a star for the Reds over the past few seasons and his sensational departure to Bayern Munich at the beginning of the season left many in shock.
Speaking following his return from injury which forced him to miss the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year, Mane has backed manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Senegalese star was speaking just as rumours that the Anfield chief could be allowed to go after the current term.
Mane parted ways with Liverpool in a £35.1million deal last summer, having had a trophy-laden six-year spell at Anfield, after deciding to say he needed a fresh challenge.
The Senegal international scored 120 goals for the club in 269 games and won six trophies in that time.
Speaking to Bild, the 30-year-old said: “Liverpool will be back. I’m convinced they will overcome this situation.
“They had many injuries and tough tests, but Jurgen Klopp is definitely the right man. He will lead Liverpool back up, from this season – the players love him.”
“However, Liverpool have struggled badly in his absence this season, although they’ve not been helped by injuries across their forward line too.”
Their struggles have led to speculation regarding Klopp’s future at Anfield and whether he will be trusted to undergo a rebuild of his squad.
Earlier in the season, the former Borussia Dortmund manager heaped praise on Mane, saying he is a top player.
“A good guy and a top player. But missing it sounds like I still want him here. I think it’s really okay that Sadio just wanted to do something different,” he said.
“That’s exactly what happened. Are we missing him? Yes! But I’m happy too. That he’s where he wanted to be. We’ll solve our problems here. Sadio is an outstanding player. Everyone in Munich saw that too. He’s absolutely world-class. Everything will be fine.”
As things stand, the former European champions sit at number six on the log table with 39 points as they are blowing and hot in this campaign.
