Bayern Munich hands Senegal’s Sadio Mane a €300,000 fine

Following the saga that rocked Bayern Munich last week, the German champions have moved swiftly to slap Sadio Mane with a hefty fine.

Entertainment SA Sport understands that the club has fined the Senegalese star with the highest fine in the club’s history.

SABC Sport reports that the former Liverpool striker has received a fine estimated to be well over €300,000 (£260,000), as confirmed by Bayern expert Florian Plettenberg in an interview with Sky Germany.

“It’s a very, very sensitive fine for Mane,” said Plettenberg.

The club announced the news of Mane’s suspension just before their last weekend match against Hoffenheim.

This latest incident comes as a blow to Mane’s already troubled first season with the former European champions since parting ways with Liverpool in the English Premier League.

After their UEFA Champions League 3-0 loss against Manchester City in England, Mane was involved in a fight with teammate Leroy Sane and the fracas forced teammates to intervene.

Resulting from his struggles in Munich, manager Thomas Tuchel is reportedly unhappy with the talented attacker and reports suggest he has no place for the Senegalese in his future plans.

“From a sporting point of view, Thomas Tuchel has no plans with Mane as he doesn’t fit his system,” revealed Plettenberg.

“This is my information. The player is seen very critically internally. From what I’m hearing, Bayern will try everything to offload Sadio Mane in the summer.”

Despite facing an uncertain future, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Tuchel confirmed Mane will be in the squad to face City on Wednesday.

“Sadio Mané will be in the squad because the topic with Sané is now settled. Starting XI? We’ll have to wait and see tomorrow whether Mané starts,” he tweeted.

With just six more German Bundesliga matches remaining this term and the club on the verge of another disappointing exit from the Champions League in the quarter-finals, Mane’s time to prove himself is fast running out.
