Celebrities React to Losing their Twitter Verification Checkmark

Twitter has entered a new age, which began with the subscription of their blue checkmark.

The social networking site that is well-known for its verification badge. The emblem is used to identify companies, government leaders, and celebrities. The website began eliminating blue checkmarks from all unpaid accounts. Celebs including Ciara, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, The Game, and many others were confused when their checkmark vanished.

Some celebrities’ verification marks remained in place, including Ice T, LeBron James, and Stephen King. Elon Musk said individuals who still have their verification checkmarks have been provided a free Twitter Blue subscription on his behalf.

Elon Musk stated in November that a new subscription service named ‘Twitter Blue’ will allow Twitter users to pay a $8 membership fee. Subscribers will now get a blue checkmark on their profiles, according to the platforms.

Musk told Twitter users last week that those who have not subscribed could anticipate their blue verification checkmarks to vanish.

“Starting April 1, we’ll be winding down our legacy Verification program, and accounts that were verified under the previous criteria (active, notable, and authentic) will not retain a blue checkmark unless they are subscribed to Twitter Blue,” explains a statement on the platform’s online help center.

According to Mashable, “only around 600,000 out of Twitter’s reportedly 250 million users have subscribed.” The outlet adds that “fewer than 5 percent”
