Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has dropped a hint that they are not interested in signing Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali
Motaung Jr. was responding following massive speculation regarding the hard-working midfielder who has been heavily linked with a move to Amakhosi.
Speaking to SABC radio presenter Thabiso Mosia on Radio 2000 on Thursday, the former Chiefs striker didn’t mince his words regarding the man who is reportedly set to be dispatched by Sundowns.
Masandawana opted to sideline the former Orlando Pirates star from their squad since early this year and it is now looking unlikely that he will be seen wearing their colours again.
‘Mhlekazi’ was exiled from the Sundowns squad due to reports of the midfielder arriving at training under the influence of alcohol – as also reported by Entertainment SA Sport.
“We are not interested in signing Andile Jali we’re fine with our players they are doing very well there was interest when he returned from Belgium in 2018, but Sundowns beat us to Jali’s signature,” he told the radio station.
“We were also not interested in Kamohelo Mokotjo and also in Katlego Otladisa and Ishmael Wadi they are not our targets.”
As coach Arthur Zwane’s troops have also qualified for the Nedbank Cup semi-finals and drawn against the Buccaneers, Motaung Jr. added that their focus is on doing well.
Furthermore, he reacted to the fans who usually criticise the coach and the players via various social media channels but suggested that the media must be professional.
“To be honest, we’re very focused. From management down to the field. There’s an air of anticipation,” he added.
“We’re excited and ready to go. we’re obviously looking at the task at hand. Many might think there isn’t a lot to play for but the champions league spot is very important. We’re in the Nedbank Cup which is also very important.
“Honestly, banter is banter from other supporters but people who have platforms to do interviews, if they spread wrong messages then they are being irresponsible and unsportsmanlike.”
