PICS: SAFA sponsors unveil Banyana Banyana and Bafana Bafana kits

Together with its sponsors, the South African Football Association has unveiled new kits for all the national teams including Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana.

SAFA and all the national sides are technically sponsored by French apparel and sports maker, Lecoq Sportif, the two forces unveiled the kits on Thursday morning.

According to a social media post by the Nasrec-based football governing body, the kits are aimed at celebrating Freedom Day as it is commemorated in South Africa on April 27.

The brand new outfits for the women’s and men’s national teams come as Bafana just qualified for the 2024 CAF African Cup of Nations tournament that will be staged in Cote d’Ivoire.

At the same time, the side coached by Desiree Ellis has secured a spot at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup that will be hosted by New Zealand and Australia in July this year.

Entertainment SA Sport headed to Twitter to check out reactions from sports lovers from the digital community and it seems there are contrasting remarks.

“Happy Freedom Day Mzansi. Alternate Kit dropped. Introducing the all-new in Legacy Jersey. Soft launch 07:00 am. 28/04/2023. Set your clocks to see more,” tweeted Lecoq Sportif.

“Why the African flag and not RSA flag on the back? If they win the world cup will you put the world map? You should have put RSA flag for the world on top and continental at the bottom.”

@Castigo noted:

“This is the only Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana jersey I would buy.”

“This should be the home jersey, not alternate…channel the spirit of the ’96 gang…”
