Chippa United Embrace Challenges Ahead of Crucial Match against Golden Arrows

Chippa United’s interim coach, Siyabulela Gwambi, has emphasised the importance of accepting their current situation as the team prepares for their final DStv Premiership game against Golden Arrows on Saturday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. The Chilli Boys are currently 16th in the 2022/23 season, with only 29 points accumulated. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. (SA, GMT+2).

Chippa United is currently tied on points with Marumo Gallants for a relegation playoff spot. Gallants, on the other hand, have a goal difference of -5 over Chippa, putting them in 15th place. Furthermore, Chippa has been unable to win at home since January, having gone six games without a victory.

The team’s morale suffered a setback after a 4-0 loss to TS Galaxy in their previous league match, a result that Gwambi acknowledged and accepted. As a result, Chippa’s caretaker coach urged his players to give everything they had in order to qualify for the relegation/promotion playoff.

“We are well aware of what is expected of us following our loss to TS Galaxy,” Gwambi said. “I told the players that we needed to accept our situation as soon as possible.” I won’t say we’ll be safe, because we’re well aware that our ultimate goal is to make the playoffs. Every game is difficult, and the game against the Arrows will be no exception. They’re determined to finish in the top eight, but we have the advantage of playing at home. Why can’t we do it if Maritzburg can?”

The Golden Arrows, on the other hand, are coming off a 1-0 victory over AmaZulu at the Princess Magogo Stadium last week. The victory improved their chances of finishing in the top eight of the DStv Premiership. The Arrows are currently eighth in the table, tied on points (37) with Swallows FC, Sekhukhune United, and Stellenbosch FC.

In their last five away games, the Arrows have recorded two wins, two losses, and one draw. Looking ahead to the match, Arrows co-coach Vusimuzi Vilakazi expressed the team’s desire to finish in the top eight this weekend.

“It’s unfortunate because we’re playing for something as well,” Vilakazi said. “We are currently in eighth place, but we cannot afford to be complacent.” If any of the teams below us wins, we must win our game in order to stay in the top eight. We’ve heard rumours about favouritism, but no official approach has been made, which would be unprofessional. While we would like to see Maritzburg stay in the top flight as a team from our province, we must fight our own battles and wish them luck in their final game.”

The upcoming match between Chippa United and the Golden Arrows promises to be a highly competitive encounter, with both teams motivated to achieve their respective goals. Chippa will be looking to end their home winless streak and earn a place in the relegation/promotion playoff, while the Arrows will be looking to maintain their position in the top eight of the DStv Premiership. The match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium promises to be an exciting end to the season for both teams and their fans.
