The dad of twelve, Nick Cannon cleared out the rumours that he is a “dead-beat dad” and that he’s at a place where he “don’t care what people know.”
The TV host and actor has twelve kids with six different women. In an interview with Los Angeles Times that was published May 7, the Wild ‘N Out host said, “I’ve been villainized, I hear all the time: ‘You can’t be present for all those children.’ So therefore I get this deadbeat dad title.”
The Masked Singer host is studying to complete a master’s degree in child psychology and a Ph.D in divinity, while working multiple jobs.
Cannon also shared the reason why he has so many kids its because it came from a place of making his partners happy when they share their desires to have kids.
“A lot of them are in the same age group,” he said. “And I just wanted to give them what they desired. I kept saying, ‘I can handle it.'”
He also acknowledged the fact that “he has a bunch of kids,” he went on to share that he is at a place where he doesn’t care what people know. “I’m really at a place now where I don’t care what people know. I’d rather just operate. It’s more about really being a good person instead of telling people you’re a good person.”
To keep up with his children, Cannon said he keeps a schedule for each kid and drives them to their extracurriculars activities. Though sometimes his busy schedule means he’s not able to spend more with each child, the 42-year-old shared that he’ll always try to make it his mission to be there for them.
“It’s not about what I do for you or what I say to you, it’s about how you feel when I’m with you,” Cannon said. “If you feel loved when you see your dad, that’s what’s gonna resonate.”
Cannon also revealed that he needs to make at least $10 million a year to support his family and keep up with his lifestyle.
“When you think about my lifestyle, I have to generate at least $100 million a year. Everybody thinks Ryan Seacrest has tons of money. I do everything that he does times 10. Well, not times 10—times three. Because he does a lot.”
He also shared that when it comes to co-parenting, he follows the lead of the mothers of his children.
“I go along with it,” he explained. “I know that every mother is making decisions based off of love and what they believe is best for the child.”
Cannon shares 12-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan with ex Mariah Carey, he also has three kids with Brittany Bell, two sons Golden Sagon,6, and Rise Messiah Cannon, 7 months, and a daughter, Powerful Queen who is 2 years old.
The list goes on…He also shares three kids with Abby De La Rosa, twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, 22 months, and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin, 5 months.
He also has a son Legendary Love, 10 months, with Bre Tiesi; daughter Onyx Ice Cole, 57months, with LaNisha Cole. He’s also dad to two children with Alyssa Scott, son Zen, who died at 5 months old in December 2021 after being diagnosed with brain cancer, and daughter Halo Marie, 4 months.
