Wydad Casablanca out to stun Mamelodi Sundowns in Tshwane

Wydad Athletic Club are definitely plotting Mameodi Sundowns’ downfall and coach Sven Vandenbroeck says Rulani Mokwena can’t cover everything when it comes to tactics.

The Belgian manager will be looking to guide his men to the final of the CAF Champions League and bag a win at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Vandenbroeck admits that Sundowns boss Mokwena is influenced by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola but his men are not scared.

This comes after various sentiments shared by Mokwena that he admires the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager.

Known for his trademark attack-minded, possession-orientated style of play with FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City – the inspired Mokwena will look to bag a convincing win at home.

“Coach Rulani, he’s been following Pep Guardiola for a long period, so he has a lot of variations of tactics, in Morocco, he tried one and I think he has another three or four variations,” Vandenbroeck said.

“You can give a lot of information to players, but you cannot cover everything, so even tomorrow in the game, we will be very concentrated on what we’re doing, observing what they are doing, and trying to find solutions.”

The former Cameroon assistant coach who worked with current Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, also looked at the 0-0 draw in Morocco in front of their home crowds.

He said the problem in Morocco was there were 60 to 70 thousand fans and the players can’t hear you all the time so we had to wait until half-time to rectify things.

With Loftus expected to be packed to the rafters, the new Wydad coach might still face challenges communicating with his troops.

In addition, the astute coach said Mokwena’s patterns correspond to only one manager and that is Guardiola, and only now maybe Mikel Arteta from Arsenal, so one; he said it in the newspapers, two; you see it on the pitch, so it’s quite obvious.
