Arthur Mafokate Appointed As Chairperson of CCIFSA

Kwaito Star Arthur Mafokate has been appointed as the chairperson of the Creative Cultural Industry Federation of South Africa (CCIFSA).

Arthur took to his social media to thank all those who wished him well and celebrated with him. He wrote, “Thank you for all the well wishes.”

The news of Arthur’s appointment comes after the recording artist and businessman was implicated in corruption through his non-profit organisation.

The Kwaito legend was fingered in the scam involving the National Lotteries Commission and his assets were frozen by the Special Investigating Unit.

According to reports, the money used to buy the house was allegedly paid to his non-profit organisation (NPO) the SA Arts and Development Association (Saada) by the NLC for projects meant for the youth.  

It is also said that the award-winning musician allegedly spent the money to boost his record label – 999.

Arthur’s new role as chairperson of CCIFSA aims to lobby and advocate for its member organisation on government policies and legislations, according to the CCIFSA website.

They also aim to develop standards and industry policies to be obeyed by the member organizations and leaders, staff including member organizations of the federation and create a self-regulatory body for cultural and creative through an Act of parliament; to preserve and document the cultural and creative professionals legacy and their work; and represent, coordinate the industry, organize unorganized and unite the cultural creative industry.

Also to train industry leadership and also capacitate administrators within the creative industry; transform the industry, protect rights and status of the industry professionals;

advance members of member organizations’ socio-economic interests and grow the
sectors and sub-sectors of the South African cultural and creative industry value chain.
