Cruises that travel lovers can enjoy in SA

When it comes to traveling, it’s different strokes for different strokes. As stated by Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), is still a thing in South Africa and the proof is in the hiked increase of passenger ship traffic into Cape Town. South Africa experienced mind-blowing numbers for the 2022/2023 cruise season because of that.

NCL mentioned that Cape Town welcomed 75 ships in the most recent cruise season – double the number in 2019/2020, which saw 39 ship visits. The increasing number of vessels and cruise lines docking in Cape Town speaks to the increased interest in cruising and South Africa.

Now that everyone wants to hit the seas, there are trips best fit for any traveller. According to NCL, below are the best cruises for catering to travellers with different interests.

Best for food lovers and culture heads: Destination Asia with Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia

NCL reports that cruises to Asia are expected to be in demand in terms of sales for South Africans as many Asian ports of call are visa-free, and there is great connectivity in the air from South Africa to Asia.

“Asia is not commonly a continent that is explored in an all-inclusive manner, so a cruise is a fantastic way to explore the continent from a fresh perspective and tick off a variety of destinations and cultures in one easy, hassle-free trip. Asia’s incredibly diverse offering ensures that there is something for everyone, from nature lovers to beachgoers, but for foodies and culture vultures in particular, the continent is a veritable feast,” NCL said.
