The South African football fraternity is still in shock following the passing of former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker.
The legendary coach who worked with Cape Town Santos, Mpumalanga Black Aces, and AmaZulu among other clubs was confirmed dead over the past weekend.
As previously reported by Entertainment SA Sport, Barker was hospitalised after suffering from Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) and he sadly passed away on Saturday at the age of 78.
As tributes are still pouring in, this publication has gathered that Barker will receive an official funeral organised by the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government.

His funeral will be held on Thursday and the date was finalised after discussions between Barker’s family and government officials.
Sports Minister Zizi Kodwa, South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan and Barker’s Africa Cup of Nations-winning captain, Neil Tovey, paid their respects to the family on Monday.
Kodwa also announced that the only South African coach to win the CAF African Cup of Nations in 1996 will be honoured with an official provincial send-off to celebrate his life, following the family’s wishes and government processes.
“We want to celebrate his life, but, in doing so, we thought we should come to the family, get affirmed to the family’s wishes,” Kodwa said while addressing the media.
The minister said they couldn’t announce certain things because there are processes to be followed in government.
He added that the family has been accepted by the provincial government to have some form of a provincial official [funeral].
In addition, SAFA boss Jordaan added that the football governing body will honour Barker and his contribution to South African football.
“We will always remember Clive and will honour him with several other initiatives, including the SAFA/Clive Barker Academy,” said Jordaan.
