One thing about Kobe Bryant he will look after his family even when he’s no longer with them physically. Vanessa Bryant the wife of the late Lakers champion, Kobe Bryant just a lawsuit against BodyArmor.
According to TMZ Bryant initially invested $6 million in the sports drink brand in 2013. And years later the brand was sold to one of the biggest drinks company, Coca Cola for $5.6 billion, with Bryant’s investment going up to $400 million.
However, things turned sour when the president of Kobe Inc., Molly Carter claimed that the former basketball player had promised her two percent of his earnings. Kobe had disputed Carter’s claims are false resulting in Carter suing him. Unfortunately, Kobe died in a helicopter crash before the case could be finalized.
Vanessa decided to pick up the case and following his death and filed a countersuit that claimed Carter “violated the duty of loyalty and the non-disparagement clause in her employment contract by trash-talking Kobe and his family.”
Vanessa claimed the trash-talking included Carter calling Kobe an “asshole,” “douche nugget,” and “dick wad” while referring to his wife as the “fucking devil,” a “bitch” and a “psycho” and claiming their youngest child had “botox lips.” Carter also allegedly said there were “a lot of fancy-ass Black people” on a flight to an NBA All-Star Game that Kobe’s company approved.
The BodyArmor suit went to arbitration resulting in Vanessa snagging more than $1.5 million in attorney’s fees.
Three months ago Vanessa won a settlement of $28.5 million with Los Angeles County over images of her late husband and daughter, Gianna Bryant’s fatal helicopter crash. She also received $15 million which was awarded to her by a federal jury in August 2022.
