Minnie Dlamini on insecurities of being a single-parent

Media personality Minnie Dlamini recently opened up about finding herself after her public divorce and as well as how single-parenting has been going for her.

In an interview with the seasoned disc jockey, DJ Fresh on his new podcast Waw! What A Week, Minnie revealed that her role as Lu on The Honeymoon brought back some old emotions that she felt during her marriage. Dlamini says by the time she started playing Lu, her marriage was had already ended, so that’s why she could relate to the character.

She said: “A lot of the emotions Lu was going through in the film, I could relate to. Some [of the emotions] did make me feel some kind of way. I kind of feel like Lu was a bit of therapy for me because she went through a really cool journey of finding herself in this film and that’s kind of where I am now.”

The actress and presenter also opened up about parenthood since her divorce. Like most single mothers, she said being a single parent is a challenging task and rewarding at the same time.

“It’s even more difficult doing it alone, And I think for me, it’s just shout out to single parents everywhere. I don’t think I’ve ever been more insecure or questioned myself more than I do right now. But I also feel like God gave him to me for a reason. Sometimes I just got to trust my gut and raise him in a way that I was raised because I think my parents did pretty good,” she added.

After Minnie Dlamini broke up with the soccer player Itumeleng Khune, she fell over heels in love with former footballer and producer Quinton Jones. They celebrated a traditional wedding ceremony in Green Hills, Durban North on the 8th of July 2017, then a publicised white wedding came right after, and that took place on the 16th of September 2017.

Unfortunately four years later, the couple announced that they’re going they are going separate ways and by the time, there was also a baby boy in the picture.

Later, Dlamini was accused of allegedly having had an affair with a businessman known as Edwin Sodi, however, she squashed the rumours, Kaya FM reported. The gorgeous TV presenter has previously shared that her divorce took a toll on her and admitted to be slowly getting back to her old self.
