Mafikizolo star Nhlanhla Mafu gets real and raw about her hearing loss, the singer shared a video on Instagram, Monday 10th July, where she opened up about her “embarrassing” journey of losing her hearing.
The entertainer who is known for her beautiful vocals as a member of the soulful group Mafikizolo, Nhanhla has had a successful journey as a singer in the entertainment industry. It is no secret that as a musician hearing is a vital part of a musician and losing the ability to hear can feel like the end of your music career.
The Emlanjeni hitmaker shared how she has been suffering in silence since losing her ability to hear and felt embarrassed to share with anyone.
In the video she shared, “For me, at some point in my life, I felt embarrassed when I had to do interviews and I’m with my partner Theo and he has to always repeat the questions,” Mafu disclosed.
“Even when I was just chilling with friends, sometimes I would just laugh without knowing what people are laughing about or be agreeable basically to everything because I can’t hear and I was really embarrassed to just say I am having this problem,” she added.
“I realised that I’m doing this for my own good and I needed to do it because the longer I let it go, the longer my hearing keeps getting worse and worse,” the singer concluded.
