Banyana Banyana fans are drooling across South Africa over a new viral video of the soccer team singing igwijo when they arrived at the Wellington Regional Stadium in New Zealand for their World Cup Opening Match against Sweden.
Banyana Banyana suffered a devastating 2-1 defeat to Sweden on Sunday the 23rd of July in their opening group match at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Even though that is the case, the South African women’s team has proven to show an impressive amount of wit and determination.
Whether they win or they lose, the team has proven to the world how as South Africans we always find a way to celebrate and encourage each other.
FIFA recently posted a video that has now gone viral, the South African women’s soccer team in their dressing room chanting and motivating each other through song, also known as igwijo.
Leading the pack in song Banyana Banyana goalkeeper Andile Dlamini stuns with smooth captivating vocals. The name of the song is ‘Hamba Wena’ and it has been a hot topic on TikTok as school kids have also been seen singing and enjoying the song.
Since going viral Tweeps can’t seem to get over the video of the soccer players, calling out how “hot” the players look. It seems like it was a thirst trap for the fans.
“They are so hot”, one user shared.
After watching the viral video numerous times one fan also shared how they have “lost count” on the amount of time they have fallen in love with the team.
“The chokehold this has on me needs to be studied, I have lost count on the amount of times I fell in love. I think I might start watching the world cup games”, they said.
