US rapper Wiz Khalifa has joined the fan base of American artists who enjoy amapiano, and he has made many South Africans very proud.
Real name Cameron Jibril Thomaz, shared clips of himself listening to amapiano music and one of the songs he was listening to is one of the country’s most popular hits of the year, Mnike by Tyler ICU.
Wiz even sings along to the song at one point in the clip. The ones that saw the clip absolutely love how big amapiano has grown in SA and abroad.
These are great times for yanos because it’s growing beyond its South African borders. Recently Jay Z was also spotted listening to the genre in his car and not long after that Swae Lee found himself apologising for crediting Nigerians for the sound.
The “Black and Yellow” hitmaker Wiz Khalifa is now trending after a clip of him jamming to piano was shared on Twitter by SA gossip blogger Musa Khawula.
The short video left South Africans smiling from ear to ear as they discussed how big amapiano is getting. Many of them sang Wiz Khalifa’s praises.
“This song is going to be nominated for something in america. Watch the spaces,” one person said about Mnike. Another wrote:
“He said he is gonna do a couple of amapiano track in the future.”
