Lizzo Breaks Her Silence on ‘Outrageous’ Allegations Made by Her Dancers Against Her

Lizzo finally breaks her silence on the bombshell lawsuit against her made by her three former backup dancers.

The Grammy winner denied any sexual harassment and creating a hostile environment for her dancers.

“These last few days have been gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing,” Lizzo said in a statement posted to social media Thursday.

“My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed.”

The singer was sued by her former dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez. Tuesday, two more women came forward with similar claims–– dancer Courtney Hollinquest and director Sophia Nahil Allison after the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles.

According to a lawsuit, Lizzo allegedly forced a dancer to touch a nude performer at a club in Amsterdam, the singer allegedly “began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas”, the suit says. Lizzo allegedly pressured Davis to touch the nude breasts of one performer and began goading her on when she refused.

And that the singer subjected dancers to an “excruciating” 12-hour audition, accusing them of drinking while working, said the suit.

Lizzo said the “sensationalized” claims came from former employees who “already publicly admitted” that their behaviour while touring with her had been “inappropriate and unprofessional.”

She explained that with her passion, hard work, and high standards, sha has to “make hard decisions.”

“It’s never my intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they aren’t valued as an important part of the team.”

The Good As Hell singer said that she was not trying to appear as a “victim” but asked her fans and followers to know that she is not “the villain” that everyone portray her to be since the allegations made rounds.

“I am very open with my sexuality and expressing myself but I cannot accept or allow people to use that openness to make me out to be something I am not. There is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in the world.”

Lizzo added that she knows what it feels like “to be body shamed on a daily basis and would absolutely never criticize or terminate an employee because of their weight.”

“I am hurt but I will not let the good work I’ve done in the world be overshadowed by this. I want to thank everyone who has reached out in support to lift me up during this difficult time,” she concluded.
