Reports have revealed that our Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi, was invited to the Miss SA 2023 finale this past weekend, where Natasha Joubert was crowned the winner, but she didn’t attend.
A source told Zimoja that initially, Tunzi was under the impression that she was going to be made a judge but when she found out she wasn’t, she reportedly lost interest and didn’t show up.
Steph Weil, the owner and organiser for Miss SA said Tunzi was never meant to be a judge but was invited as the VIP guest. “I don’t know what happened to her. Maybe she confirmed other important things, but she was definitely invited and never showed up.”
It is also said that the former Miss Universe was probably a now show at the event because of the drama behind the scenes of the reality show, Crown Chasers, which she hosted.
Previously, a source from the show said a well-known fashion stylist who was commissioned by the show to style Zozi was told at the last minute that he won’t be getting paid by Miss SA and was told to invoice Zozi directly.
Responding to the Crown Chasers rumours, Weil said: “I respect Zozi as a woman and brand and obviously there will be glitches and mistakes because it was our first season.”
Zozi had everyone is shock this week when she dropped her Miss SA title from Instagram and Twitter accounts. Fans of celebrity blog, Maphepha Ndaba on Instagram also asked why Zozi Tunzi was excluded in the Miss SA 2023 finale poster.

The poster shows Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters who won in 2017, Tamaryn Green who won in 2018, Shudufhadzo Musida who won in 2020, Lalela Mswane who won in 2021, and Ndavi Nokeri who won in 2022.
