Following three sexual assault lawsuits against him, rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has decided to step down as the chairman of Revolt TV network which he helped establish in 2013.
Revolt TV clarified on social media that Diddy had no “day-to-day role in the business.”
Combs has consistently denied the allegations, dismissing the recent ones as “a money grab.” Revolt posted on social media about Combs stepping down, emphasizing that the decision aimed to ensure the network remains focused on its mission. It’s unclear whether Combs will return as chairman.
Before stepping down, Dawn Montgomery, a co-host on Revolt’s podcast Monuments to Me, announced that she would not be part of the third season, citing her experience as a sexual assault survivor and expressing discomfort with Combs leading the company.
Founded in 2013 by Combs, the music television network faces uncertainty regarding his future involvement as chairman.
The first lawsuit, filed by R&B musician Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, accused Combs of rape and sex trafficking. After filing the lawsuit, representatives announced a settlement without disclosing details, emphasizing it wasn’t an admission of wrongdoing.
A second lawsuit claimed Combs sexually assaulted a psychology student, Joi Dickerson-Neal, in 1991. The recent lawsuit alleges that a woman, referred to as Jane Doe, was coerced into sex with Combs during an event in the 1990s. A representative for Combs labelled the lawsuits as “nothing but a money grab,” asserting they were fabricated claims from over 30 years ago.
These legal actions coincide with the expiration of the New York Adult Survivors Act, allowing alleged victims of sex crimes to sue after the statute of limitations has passed.
