Matt LeBlanc pays tribute to co-star Matthew Perry

Matt LeBlanc became the first Friends cast member to pay individual tribute to co-star Matthew Perry after his death in October. In an emotional Instagram post, LeBlanc fondly recalled their on and off-screen bond as roommates Joey and Chandler.

“It was an honour to share the stage with you and call you my friend,” LeBlanc wrote, referencing Perry’s struggles with addiction. “I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you.”

LeBlanc shared photos of the two embracing and in character, ending with a joke about the $20 Perry’s Chandler owed Joey on the show.

Courteney Cox soon followed with her own tribute posting a behind-the-scenes photo of her and Perry as Monica and Chandler, whose relationship was a fan-favorite storyline.

The six core cast members were extremely close during the show’s decade-long run, jointly negotiating their historic $1 million per episode contracts. They reunited in 2021 for a special reunion show.

In a joint statement after Perry’s death, LeBlanc, Cox, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow expressed devastation at the “unfathomable loss” of their co-star and close friend.
