South African luxury clothing brand, MaXhosa by Laduma is celebrating getting an official nod from Former US First Lady, Michelle Obama when she rocked one of their designs.
The esteemed clothing label posted took to Twitter to make the announcement.
“Former US First Lady @MichelleObama was spotted wearing the Alkebulan Showstopper dress from our AW/SS22 collection during a mission in the country. The multi-coloured pleated dress is named after what is believed to be the original name of the African continent, Alkebulan, dating back to pre-colonization. Alkebulan is considered the continent’s oldest and most indigenous name, with translations such as “mother of mankind” or, according to some sources, “the garden of Eden.”, said the label in excitement.
Some time ago, MaXhosa by Laduma scored a remarkable opportunity to dress the star-studded cast of Coming 2 America, gaining notable recognition. After that, MaXhosa earned a feature in British Vogue.
The label gained attention when Michelle Obama was seen wearing one of their designs during her visit to South Africa, where she embarked on a mission to empower women and girls. Despite the serious nature of her mission, Michelle retained her sense of style and looked absolutely stunning in a multi-colored pleated dress crafted by MaXhosa.
