Despite Fernandes’ impressive goal that initially put United 2-0 ahead in Istanbul and a subsequent 3-1 lead, two significant errors from goalkeeper Andre Onana allowed Galatasaray to level the score.
Expressing his disappointment, Fernandes conveyed that their Champions League performance has been subpar, emphasizing the necessity to exert control during games. He cited the Copenhagen match, acknowledging the challenging circumstances of playing with one player less but emphasizing the need to secure the result after scoring 3-2.
Fernandes stressed the importance of understanding such game situations and stages, urging the team to be more intelligent in managing the game effectively.
