E! has a number of reality shows, but we recently had the opportunity to sit down with the American reality star, Shake Chatterjee from the House of Villains on E!.
Shake deep dived into his journey as a reality TV star, how he got into it in the first place, all the way to his new found passion for selling property.
Yanga: For the viewers, could you please tell us a bit about yourself?
Shake: Absolutely. My name is Shake Chatterjee, you might know me from the show Love is Blind on Netflix, where I earned a reputation as a villain, but instead of crashing and burning, I’ve leaned into that persona, and found myself on a new show, called House of Villains on E!, and maybe you’d recognise me from there too.
Y: We’ve seen you on reality shows before. How do you find the balance between being on House of Villains and your other projects, assuming that you are working on other shows on the side?
S: Unlike some of the other contestants in House of Villains, I’m not exactly full time in the entertainment industry, so my projects aren’t necessarily other shows per se. The projects that I am working on – number one, I’m still practicing as a veterinarian here in Miami, Florida. Number two, I’m in the real estate industry, on the mortgage side, so I’m a loan officer. So, those are my two main projects, and I’m trying to use being on these shows as leverage for recognisability and things like that on the real estate side. But, really, at the end of the day, going on these shows was just an entertaining fun experience. Not so much professional endeavour, more of a cool story, I guess. It was just a cool opportunity you know? I want to be able to look back and kind of laugh about it.
Y: In the House of Villains, who is your favourite housemate?
S: It’s a tough question to answer, because as you go through the show, you bond with different people, and you end up in challenges where you’re competing with each other, and there’s back-stabbing. It’s a very tough thing to answer – I don’t want to necessarily give an answer to that, only because it’s a rollercoaster of a show, right? Depending on where you are as a viewer, whether you’re just starting, or you’re all caught up, maybe you’re watching this after the whole show is out, it’s a tough thing. I’ll tell you some people that I just respect flat-out. OMAROSA is such a legend, and the way she carries herself, the way she’s able to intimidate people just based on her reputation and things like that – I mean that’s just impressive right? Whether you’re great friends with them or whatever – all that aside. Another person for me is Johnny Bananas, who has been on so many seasons of The Challenge. He’s very good at what he does. So, again, these shouldn’t throw you as far as what happens in the show.
Y: You mentioned that you’ve earned your spot in the House of Villains. What are some fun facts that viewers don’t know about you outside of you being the contestant?
S: This shouldn’t be the most fun fact at this point, but people maybe don’t know that I’m still practicing as a veterinarian. While my castmates, they’re kind of full-time entertainment industry folks. Going on this show was like a vacation for me because it was a break from what I’m used to! Going and doing something kind of interesting and crazy. So yeah, I’m still practicing full-time. I’m a normal person, you know? I’m not like an entertainment celebrity. People kind of keep that in mind when they see me. Another fun fact – I think I mentioned this earlier, but I’m in mortgages now, so if anyone’s looking to purchase or refinance a home.
