Just after receiving his first Golden Globe nomination, Trevor Noah has confirmed that he will return as the master of ceremonies for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on February 4, marking his fourth consecutive year in this prestigious role.
The Johannesburg-born comedian, who is also in the running for awards at the upcoming Golden Globes, Emmys, and Grammys, has the potential to secure the three of wins in the 2024 awards season. Nominated for Best Comedy Album for “I Wish You Would,” Noah stands as the fifth Grammy host to receive a nomination in the same year.
Expressing his excitement on the “What Now? With Trevor Noah” podcast on Spotify, the 40-year-old comedian and former host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” in the US shared his enthusiasm for hosting the Grammys, citing the joy of experiencing and commenting on the show in real-time.
“I’m excited about that, yeah — it’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then just experience and comment on it in person, while it is happening.”
Noah, who received his first Grammy nomination in 2020 for “Son of Patricia,” is positioned as a strong contender in the Golden Globes, where he is nominated in the category of Best Performance in Stand-up Comedy on Television for “Where Was I.” Competing in a newly introduced category, he faces off against esteemed nominees Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, Ricky Gervais, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes. The Golden Globe Awards ceremony is scheduled for January 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
Additionally, Noah is a nominee for his last season hosting “The Daily Show” at the upcoming Emmy Awards on January 15. With the potential for three consecutive wins in the first two months of 2024, Trevor Noah is set to make history across multiple prestigious awards ceremonies.
