Adan Canto, renowned for his roles in X-Men and Designated Survivor, has passed away at the age of 42. The Mexican actor, also a singer-songwriter, succumbed to appendiceal cancer, a diagnosis he kept private, as confirmed by publicist Jennifer Allen.
In a statement, Allen noted, “Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever. He will be greatly missed by so many.”
Kiefer Sutherland, Adan Canto’s co-star in Designated Survivor, expressed his grief, describing Canto as a “wonderful spirit” and expressing his sorrow for Canto’s wife and children.
Born in Coahuila, Mexico, Canto began his career at 16 and transitioned from a singer-songwriter in Mexico City to an actor, making his TV debut in the 2009 Mexican series, Estado De Gracia. He gained recognition for his roles in The Following, Designated Survivor, Narcos, and X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
Canto was currently portraying Arman Morales in the Fox crime drama series The Cleaning Lady, which is in the process of filming its third season. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Ann Canto, and two children, Roman Alder, and Eve Josephine.
