South African Airways (SAA) has declared the resumption of its regular flights to Mauritius, a favoured destination for South African vacationers seeking visa-free entry and pristine beaches. The airline had temporarily suspended flights due to a tropical storm that forced the closure of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, the island’s main airport.
Cyclone Belal wreaked havoc on the island, prompting the closure of the airport and the cancellation of all international flights. The recent reopening of the airport, after ensuring safe operating conditions, has allowed SAA to resume its flights to Mauritius.
SAA, in collaboration with the Airports Authority in Mauritius, remains vigilant, closely monitoring the situation. To assist affected customers, the airline has arranged additional flights to accommodate passengers disrupted by the cancellations.
Further updates will be communicated in case of any additional changes or flight cancellations.
