Three couples who captured the hearts of viewers on Mzansi Magic’s reality show, Forever Thina, are back with a bang on the upcoming series, Samukeleni. Premiering on the channel from 17 July, the show follows these couples as they seek blessings for their unions after marrying against their families’ wishes.
In this spin-off series, the focus shifts to the couples’ quest for acceptance from their families and loved ones following their controversial weddings. The ultimate goal is not only to gain acknowledgment for their marriages but also to earn the blessing and respect they rightfully deserve.
Director of Local Entertainment Channels, Shirley Adonisi, shares insights into the show’s purpose, stating, “Our reality shows aim to entertain viewers while sparking meaningful conversations among audiences. Samukeleni serves as a continuation of the narrative initiated on Forever Thina, addressing the question: What happens after the wedding?”
Beyond exploring the couples’ pursuit of familial acceptance, Samukeleni delves into the intricacies of their post-wedding lives. Viewers can expect to witness the challenges of navigating issues such as traditional bride price negotiations (ilobolo), integrating families, fertility concerns, and more.
No matter what the outcome will be, the journey of these couples is one worth witnessing. Tune in to Mzansi Magic, DStv Channel 161, starting Wednesday, 17 July at 20:00, to follow the couples’ quest for ‘samukeleni’ – acceptance and blessing – and discover whether their requests are met with approval or not.
