The famous and beloved Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams has revealed that he is open to moving abroad, even though he just renewed his vows with his current team.
This comes after Williams signed an improved deal with Sundowns which will see him stay at Chloorkop until June 2028, and the team making this decision came across as fending off reported interest from clubs that could take the goalkeeper away from them.
Ronwen Williams was crowned the best goalkeeper at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for his heroics as Bafana Bafana returned home with a bronze medal.
The 31-year-old superstar has acknowledged that he believes that Mamelodi Sundowns are giving him the platform to showcase his talent, saying he’s now looking forward to FIFA Club World Cup. However with that being said, he has mentioned that as much as he is very happy with his current team, he’s open to leaving should the club be satisfied with whatever offer presented for his services.
“I’m happy at the club, I’ve signed a new deal, long may this continue – the achievements, the success, and even the heartbreak because that builds and fuels us to go even harder in the next season,” said Williams to SABC Sport.
“So, I’m looking forward to [the extended chapter], I’m happy at Sundowns, and I’m looking forward to the Club World Cup. But if something comes, and the club is happy [to let me go] then so be it,” he added.
