Miss Sa’s finalist Chidimma Adetshina’s case gets deeper and deeper as she and her family are now being investigated for fraud. In the events of Miss SA taking place the model Chidimma has been facing backlash from South Africans about her nationality. Others came in defense of her, and others stood firm in their words. This backlash got so big that celebrities and political parties such as EFF got involved in protecting her.
However, the minister of Home Affairs said in a recent radio interview that being born in South Africa and your parents are foreign you automatically become a citizen of South Africa is not true, that statement only works if applied in the United States. If you are born in South Africa and your parents are South African then you obtain citizenship automatically and if your parents are foreign all documentations need to be done and citizenship needs to be obtained.
The Minister of Home Affairs has now opened an investigation against Chiddimma’s mother as now it has surfaced from those investigations that fraud has been committed. It is believed in the statement taken out by Home Affairs that identity fraud may have been committed by the person who is known to be Chidimma’s mother and that her daughter Chidimma could have participated in committing this fraud. The statement went further in to say that the identity that was stolen was of a South African mother who could not register her child after birth due to fraud dealings.
