Springbok skipper Siya Kolisi couldn’t hide his pride as his team staged an unforgettable comeback to secure an amazing victory over the All Blacks in a Rugby Championship clash at Ellis Park on today!
In a game that had fans on the edge of their seats, South Africa overturned a 10-point deficit in the final 12 minutes to emerge victorious with a 31-27 score line.

“We have immense respect for the All Blacks, no matter what the critics say,” Kolisi remarked. “When it’s crunch time, they always rise to the occasion.”
Kolisi admitted that the Springboks struggled at times, particularly with their exits, but emphasized the importance of keeping their cool under pressure. “We didn’t panic. They scored the first try in the second half, but we regrouped. The thing about us is… we never give up. We’ve faced setbacks before, and we’ve led before. We can draw on those experiences.”
The 33-year-old captain also took a moment to express his gratitude to the fans, whose unwavering support has been a driving force for the team. “Thank you so much for your support, not just tonight, but through so many battles. We play for many reasons, but the people of South Africa are our number one motivation.”
Kolisi painted a vivid picture of the fans’ enthusiasm, recalling scenes of people cheering them on, even as the team bus rolled through the streets. “There were some people shouting for us as we drove on the team bus today. Homeless people jumping up and down, and those who could be here today. Please don’t stop. When things get tough, please carry on supporting us. We can’t do it without you.”

On the other side, All Blacks skipper Scott Barrett was left ruing missed opportunities. “The Springboks certainly showed the class team they are. We weren’t quite good enough. We were good for 62 minutes, but it’s an 80-minute game,” Barrett reflected.
