Football Update – Champions League:

The clash between Arsenal and French champions PSG in London was the match of the day as the second round of matches in the new format of European football’s elite club competition got underway. Arsenal beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in their heavyweight Champions League clash on Tuesday night.

Gunners striker, Kai Havertz opened their goal account with a classy header off a Leandro Trossard cross to open the scoring at the 20-minute mark. Bukayo Saka sealed the match outcome with a free-kick goal before half-time. The tremendous power from the Gunners forward delivered the free-kick delivery from the right that evaded everybody on its way into the net.

Borussia Dortmund, a finalist from 2023, gave Celtic a brutal defeat with a superb 7-1 win in Germany last night. The goal difference pushing the German based squad to top position in the league with six points and a Nine goal difference after only two matches

The round two matches also saw Barcelona, Manchester City and Inter Milan claim clear victories and Champions League debutants Brest, beat Red Bull Salzburg emphatically with a 4-0 win.

There will be four more round two matches played tonight (2nd October) with Liverpool playing Bologna at home and the match of the day likely to be Aston Villa Playing Bayern at home. Both matches kick off at 21H00 South African Time
