Carol Bouwer Productions is gearing up to uncover South Africa’s next beacon of beauty and service as they host the 2024 Miss World South Africa. With the goal of finding a young woman who embodies “Beauty with a Purpose,” this year’s competition promises an exciting array of finalists, each driven by unique aspirations to make a global impact. Here’s a look at some standout contenders:

Tshiamo Setlhare from Mahikeng, Northwest, is on a mission to de-stigmatize mental illness and promote mental health as a fundamental human right. With a background in Occupational Therapy, she envisions using the Miss World platform to advocate for better mental health awareness and inclusivity.

Thembelihle Mnguni

Thembelihle Mnguni, a model and electrical engineering student from Gauteng, is tackling load shedding with her project, “Shining Hope,” which focuses on sustainable energy solutions. From solar panels in schools to community-run microgrids, she’s working to empower communities and provide consistent access to electricity.

Zoalize Jansen van Rensburg

Zoalize Jansen van Rensburg brings her digital savvy to the competition. A marketing executive at Ferrari South Africa, this Pretoria native is dedicated to youth empowerment through her initiative, “Never Too Young to Advocate,” which provides resources for young leaders on everything from CV-building to mental wellness.

Ximiyeto Makhubele, a tech enthusiast from Limpopo, is passionate about leveraging technology to uplift others. Through her project, “Youth Empowerment Through Education,” she’s helping young people in rural communities gain digital skills to thrive in today’s world.

Romanda Hombi, a clinical audiologist from Mpumalanga, envisions mobile healthcare services for underserved communities. Her project, “Caring Purpose,” aims to improve healthcare access and provide essential services to marginalized groups.

Nande Mabala

The competition also includes remarkable talents like Nande Mabala and her sustainability project, “Go Green SA,” which promotes agriculture as a tool for soft skills development, and Jesmika Singh, a UCT master’s student, whose research is centered on advancing breast cancer treatment and awareness.

The grand finale, airing live on SABC 3 from Sun City Arena on October 5th, will showcase these inspiring women as they vie for the title. The winner will represent South Africa on the global stage, continuing the legacy of transforming beauty into a force for positive change.
