The plaintiff accuses Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at an after-party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
Jane Doe, an anonymous plaintiff, claims a limousine driver brought her to the party, telling her she “fit what Diddy was looking for.” She alleges that after a disorienting drink, Combs and Jay-Z sexually assaulted her as another female celebrity watched.
The plaintiff originally filed this lawsuit in October, naming only Combs, and amended it on Sunday, December 8 2024, to include Jay-Z as a defendant. The plaintiff’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, has filed several similar lawsuits against Combs in recent months.
Jay-Z has strongly denied the allegations, calling them a “blackmail attempt.”
In response to the allegations, he issued a firm statement to NBC News:
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”
He emphasized that if such claims were true, the victims deserve “real justice.” By calling for criminal action instead of civil litigation, Jay-Z appears to challenge the legitimacy of the claims while asserting his innocence.
He affirmed his innocence, supporting real victims of sexual violence and condemning false accusations.
The lawsuit deepens Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent legal troubles, including multiple sexual misconduct allegations.
Here’s what people on X had to say about the allegations against the rapper…
@Billythegoatuk posted, “Jay Z responded to them allegations before i even saw the allegations, bro had that statement in his drafts.”
@ReeseMode posted, “Jay Z was close friends with R. Kelly, diddy, and Harvey Weinstein now there’s suddenly no way he could be a predator??? LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOO”
