Former Love & Hip-Hop Hollywood star Apple Watts speaks out on life after near-fatal crash.
Apple shared her powerful story of survival and transformation after a devastating car accident nearly took her life in March 2022.
In an emotional interview with Mark Laita on Soft White Underbelly, Watts opened up about the incident, admitting she had been drinking before getting behind the wheel.
“I was a little buzzed, but it was hours later. I guess I fell asleep and ran into a truck… I was going 90 miles per hour,” she said.
The high-speed collision caused Watts’ car to flip multiple times before bursting into flames.
The crash left her with life-altering injuries, including a shattered spine, a broken arm, and a fractured skull.
She was airlifted to Las Vegas University Medical Center, where she remained in a coma for four months.
“When I woke up, I forgot everything and everybody,” Watts recalled, reflecting on the moment she regained consciousness.
Now, nearly three years after the accident, Watts is using her experience to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving.
“Don’t drink and drive. Lots of people died off of this stuff,” she urged. She reflected on how her past lifestyle, which normalised drinking and drug use, contributed to her choices.
“I thought I was bulletproof.”
The accident ended her career as a dancer, but Watts is channeling her journey into something greater—motivational speaking.
“I just want to save lives. I don’t want anybody going through what I went through,” she said.
She also expressed regret over the choices she made and wished her loved ones had stepped in earlier to address her habits.
“I regret all the things I took for granted before the accident,” she admitted, noting how her short temper often discouraged others from intervening.
Despite the hardships, Watts is finding strength in her recovery and embracing the lessons she’s learned.
“This journey has taught me resilience and the value of life,” she said, determined to inspire others and turn her tragedy into a story of hope.
