Acclaimed South African flutist and composer Wouter Kellerman has won his third GRAMMY Award at the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards for his album Triveni, taking home the honour in the category of Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album.
Triveni, a deeply spiritual and healing music album, reflects Kellerman’s continued exploration of sound as a transformative and meditative force. The album, which is a powerful collaboration with Indian vocalist Chandrika Tandon and Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto, seamlessly blends elements of new age, chant and world music to create a transcendent experience for listeners. The ethereal compositions invoke a sense of peace, serenity and connection, making Triveni a profound journey for the mind, body and spirit.
“I’m incredibly grateful for this recognition,” said Kellerman during his acceptance speech. “Triveni is a reflection of our belief in the power of music to heal and unite. I want to thank Chandrika, Eru and all the musicians involved, as well as my incredible team. This award is a testament to the shared vision of creating music that transcends the ordinary and connects us all at a deeper level.”
The album has garnered critical acclaim for its evocative soundscapes, which blend Kellerman’s distinctive flute playing with Tandon’s soothing vocals and Matsumoto’s emotive cello performance. The collaborative nature of Triveni speaks to Kellerman’s mission to bring together diverse sounds and traditions in service of healing and spiritual awakening.
This marks Kellerman’s third GRAMMY win, following his 2023 recognition for his powerful song ‘Bayethe’ and his first win in 2015 for Winds of Samsara.
Triveni continues to solidify his status as one of the most innovative and influential artists in the world music scene, with a focus on the emotional and healing power of sound.
The 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards took place on February 2nd, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where Kellerman’s win further highlights the growing recognition of music that emphasizes wellness, mindfulness and global collaboration.
