Curated by hip-hop star and cultural tastemaker Lusaso “Saso” Ngcobo, the iconic marquee will return on July 5, promising an elevated experience at Africa’s most prestigious horse racing event.
Last year’s debut was a showstopper, drawing A-list celebrities, elite influencers, and chart-topping artists. This year, Saso levels up with a reimagined space located just steps from the Winning Post, doubling capacity to host 800 handpicked guests — all while preserving the exclusive, members-only feel that made it a breakout success.
From luxury design and premium service to artful Afro-futuristic interiors, this year’s marquee delivers a high-touch, immersive celebration of Black excellence, heritage, and lifestyle. Themed “Cradle of Humankind,” the 2025 experience draws from Africa’s ancestral roots and transforms them into a modern, luxury narrative — think curated fashion moments, gourmet cuisine, signature cocktail bars, and world-class performances.
While the artist lineup remains under wraps, insiders confirm it will surpass last year’s all-star roster, which featured Oscar Mbo, Major League DJz, Sjava, Blxckie, and DBN Gogo.
“This isn’t just a marquee. It’s a movement,” says Saso. “We’ve curated an atmosphere where music, luxury, and heritage collide to create something exceptional — something that lives on in people’s memories.”
Guests can expect red carpet glamour, plush lounges, luxury brand activations, and a five-star experience from start to finish. While the 2024 event earned rave reviews, Saso is candid about the lessons learned and the improvements made.
“We’re not above accountability,” he says. “Last year had its challenges — delays, staffing, service flow. We heard the feedback, and we’ve come back more intentional and more prepared. This year is about excellence in every detail.”
