Media personality Lerato Kganyago found herself at the centre of online drama this week after a heated exchange with an X user who goes by the name BOO BEAR LOOKING LIKE A CORPSE AFTER SURGERY — also self-described as the “Ethical Hater” in their bio.
The drama started after Lerato took to Instagram recently with a string of alarming posts, suggesting she may have been followed and potentially targeted by unknown individuals. This came across as a serious concern for her personal safety — but not everyone took it that way.
In a now-viral post, Boo Bear wrote:
“So someone is following Lerato Kganyago but what’s really funny is that she thinks her case is femicide related. No Lerato, this is because your husband is who he is and it relates to what General Mkhwanazi said about politicians and mafia. You’re collateral.”
Lerato didn’t take the accusations lightly and clapped back:
Boo Bear was referring to recent comments made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who alleged that certain politicians and well-known figures are linked to organised crime syndicates, including those involved in assassinations and illegal business dealings. The claims made headlines and opened up a wave of online speculation — particularly around individuals connected to the powerful and wealthy.
Boo’Bear’s insinuation was that Lerato may be “collateral” due to her husband’s alleged links, although no evidence was provided.
Lerato quickly fired back: “Love that you created an ENTIRE story, even added a picture that has NOTHING to do with me! Who paid you to push a false narrative? I will NEVER be the person you so desperately want me to be, pick someone else.”
The comments section lit up with a back-and-forth exchange.
Boo Bear: “You’re always so pressed and ready to debunk. Now that you’re here, will we be hearing anything that ties your husband to the crime syndicates recently uncovered by Mkhwanazi? Also, why do you look bleached?”
Lerato: “So you are mad at me because I am ‘Bleaching’? Is that why you have so much hatred for me? I’m not pressed, I’m trying to understand why YOU are pressed about someone who has done NOTHING to YOU! You see who is the problem here? But love it! Wish you lots of love.”
She threw her last jab: “Love how you don’t see yourself as a hater. Your entire timeline is bashing me… Let’s do this, my friend: come out with your REAL account, then I’ll know you’re not a hater! Or I can do that for you, my friend!”
