GRAMMY Award-winning global superstar Doja Cat has releases her highly anticipated fifth studio album, Vie.
Alongside the album release, Doja Cat has also unveiled the official music video for the track “Gorgeous”, a stylish visual directed by Bardia Zeinali, known for his work with artists like Justin Bieber and Sabrina Carpenter. Shot in New York City, the video features an all-star cast including Yseult, Paloma Elsesser, Alex Consani, Irina Shayk, Amelia Gray, Ugbad, Ida Heiner, Mona Tougaard, Alek Wek, Karen Elson, Sora Choi, Imaan Hammam, and more.
The Meaning Behind Vie
Explaining the inspiration behind the album’s title, Doja Cat shared: “The French word ‘Vie’ (which means ‘life’) was a playful choice tied to this being my fifth album, a reference to the Roman numeral ‘V’ tattooed on my collarbone. In numerology, five symbolises curiosity, adventure, and change.
“I wanted to tie that energy into La Vie en Rose and themes of romance. This album is my personal take on love, sex, pain, wonder, and intimacy, whether with yourself or someone else. It’s bold, emotional, and nostalgic, with homages to the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. My goal was to deliver all of that with a modern twist.”
Doja Cat’s media blitz continues with a feature interview on CBS Sunday Morning earlier this week, followed by her co-hosting appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on October 1. Just a few days later, she’ll take the stage for her musical debut on Saturday Night Live, opening Season 51 on Saturday, October 4.
To celebrate her album launch, Doja Cat has also partnered again with Amazon Music to release a stunning new merch collection inspired by Vie. The ‘80s-inspired capsule includes:
- Graphic tees and hoodies
- A signature beret
- A rose-shaped compact mirror
- A silk scarf
- An Amazon-exclusive clear vinyl edition of Vie with alternate cover art
