Internationally celebrated producer, composer, and cultural ambassador Lebo M is set to host the official launch of Honouring Joseph Shabalala on Saturday, September 20, at Nu Metro VIP Cinemas, Ballito Junction, in collaboration with Ukhozi FM.
This special event will mark the world premiere of the music video Imisebenzi by Nkosinathi Shabalala, a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Joseph Shabalala, founder of the iconic group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
The launch will serve as a personal homage from Lebo M, the Grammy Award-winner and Oscar nominee best known for his work on Disney’s The Lion King to the late musical pioneer.
Joseph Shabalala’s groundbreaking artistry brought the unique sound of isicathamiya from the streets of Ladysmith to the world stage, earning international acclaim and multiple Grammy Awards. With Honouring Joseph Shabalala, Lebo M aims to preserve and celebrate this cultural legacy through music, storytelling, and live performance.
Guests will be welcomed with drinks starting at 18:30, with the official program beginning at 19:15.
The celebration will continue on Wednesday, September 24, with the Heritage Day Tribute Concert at the Durban Playhouse, showcasing a star-studded lineup including Big Zulu, Khuzani, Blaq Diamond, Sjava, Boity Thulo, Mnqobi Yazo, Naima Kay, Thee Legacy, and Nkosinathi Shabalala. The evening will be hosted by the media personality Minnie Dlamini.
