AmaGroove Returns for Its Third Edition in 2026, A Global Call to Shape the Sound of Tomorrow is now Open

The rhythmic heartbeat of cross-continental creativity rises once again as AmaGroove returns for its third edition, set to take place from 22–29 March 2026 at Kromdraai Impact Hub. Firmly established as one of the most forward-thinking music residencies on the continent, AmaGroove continues to redefine collaboration by bringing together artists, producers and sonic innovators from across South Africa and the world.

The 2026 edition of AmaGroove Residency promises an even more immersive, boundary-breaking experience, made possible through a dynamic partnership between the largest community of composers and songwriters in Denmark, Autor, the Riky Rick Foundation, the Danish Embassy in South Africa, Kroomdraai Impact Hub and One Groove. United by a shared vision, these partners are committed to nurturing artistic excellence, cultivating cultural exchange and creating sustainable opportunities for musicians at every level.

Open Call Now Live: December 3 – January 6

In the spirit of inclusivity and discovery, AmaGroove has officially opened its 2026 Open Call. From 3 December 2025 to 6 January 2026, emerging and established talents are invited to apply for a chance to join this genre-blurring, future-shaping creative residency.

Applicants should demonstrate artistic curiosity, originality and a willingness to explore new sonic landscapes alongside a diverse cohort of creators. Selected participants will spend a transformative week at Kroomdraai in South Africa, engaging in collaborative sessions, creative workshops, wellness activities, cultural immersions and live performances, all designed to spark innovation and forge lifelong artistic relationships.

A Space Where Sound Meets Soul

AmaGroove has rapidly evolved into a catalyst for bold and vibrant expression, curated by Muneyi, a prominent South African singer-songwriter known for his indie-folk music who draws inspiration from Tshivenda culture and personal experiences. Joining Muneyi on the curatorship programme is Mishy Kope, an alumnus from the 2025 AmaGroove Residency based in Cape Town as well as devotee of creativity and ALTBLK Continua founder & visionary artist, Msaki.

The residency has become known not only for its world-class music creation, but for igniting creative partnerships that outlive the residency itself. By centering community, experimentation and artistic freedom, AmaGroove continues to honour the legacy of Riky Rick and the global spirit of collaboration that inspired its inception.

A Global Platform with Local Heart

As it gears up for its third chapter, AmaGroove remains deeply rooted in South Africa’s creative landscape, while simultaneously opening doors to global exchange. The residency offers selected participants:
