A show for the ages. Bad Bunny gave us a history lesson on his Puerto Rican roots, while also encouraging solidarity amongst the global Latino community. The entire performance being conducted in Spanish.
During Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, where the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny took over the halftime show with a high-energy set. Kicking things off with his 2022 hit “Tití Me Preguntó,” he performed a medley of his songs including “NUEVAYoL,” blending reggaeton and cultural nods throughout the performance. The show celebrated his musical catalogue and Puerto Rican heritage, featuring dynamic staging and a vibrant presentation that quickly became a standout moment of the event.
Bad Bunny wasn’t the only familiar face on stage. Rapper Cardi B and actor Pedro Pascal were also spotted dancing and soaking up the moment on the front porch of a mock house set up as a prop during the performance.
After bursting through the front door and diving into the celebration, Bad Bunny kept the energy high with a mash-up of his track “EoO” and Daddy Yankee’s 2004 classic “Gasolina.” He later performed “Monaco,” before the cameras cut to another surprise guest of the night: Lady Gaga, who delivered a performance of her Grammy-winning collaboration with Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile.”
The pair shared a brief dance together to the tune of Bad Bunny’s “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” before he transitioned to his vibrant New York anthem, “NUEVAYoL.”
Bad Bunny got another boost when Ricky Martin joined him onstage to deliver a soulful performance of “Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii” during the Super Bowl LX halftime show.
Bad Bunny was announced as the Super Bowl halftime show headliner in September 2025, a decision that quickly sparked backlash online. Conservative politicians and commentators criticised the NFL’s choice, taking issue with the six-time Grammy winner performing primarily in Spanish and his outspoken opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Among the critics was President Donald Trump, who last month also took aim at pregame performers Green Day. “I’m anti-them,” he said of the politically outspoken artists. “I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”
In response, conservative organisation Turning Point USA staged an alternative Super Bowl halftime show, headlined by Trump ally Kid Rock.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Bad Bunny pushed back against the criticism, saying audiences didn’t need to understand Spanish to enjoy his performance.
Needless to say, he was right.
