Hailey Bieber made an appearance on the SHE MD Podcast recently and revealed a few shocking candid truths about her vitality.
As a part of the conversation, Mrs. Bieber opened up about her journey to motherhood and obstacles she has faced since discovering she was pregnant. She revealed that her pregnancy came as a surprise after having received a concerning medical diagnosis.
Hailey was diagnosed with a uterine septum before conceiving her 1-year-old son, Jack Blues, whom she shares with her husband Justin Bieber.
Podcast hosts, world-renowned OBGYN Dr. Thais Aliabadi and women’s advocate and influencer Mary Alice Haney asked Hailey whether she had been planning on getting pregnant and the Rhode founder admit to them that it was a surprise to her. Hailey also recalled the heeding of Dr. Aliabadi (who is also her OBGYN) linked to her condition.
“Dr. A kept saying, ‘We need to look at this and keep an eye on it before you get pregnant because it could potentially be an issue,’” she shared, adding that surgery had been discussed as a possible option in the future.
Dr. Aliabadi emphasised that a uterine septum is a congenital condition affecting nearly 1 to 3 percent of women. The severity ranging from mild to severe, depending on the size of the tissue wall.
“With moderate, you have a higher risk of miscarriage,” the doctor said, estimating Hailey’s risk at roughly 25 to 40 percent. This evidences why the conception of their child was such a surprise to Hailey.
Despite the challenges, Hailey soldiered on and believed it would all work out, remaining calm and optimistic.
Fortunately, as the baby grew, the uterine septum expanded in a way that allowed the pregnancy to continue safely. Both mother and son are now healthy.
