A mass COVID-19 testing and screening drive has been held in Diepsloot township in Johannesburg. That’s after a nurse at a local clinic tested positive for the virus. Young and old came out in their numbers to get tested during this massive drive. Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku and Gauteng Premier David Makhura observed the programme.
They noted that high-density areas are hotspots for COVID-19. We still need more from the citizens here in terms of social distancing, in terms of maintaining the basic hygiene,” said Masuku. Makhura said just over a thousand people have been tested in Diepsloot since the outbreak began. We are targeting areas of big concern to us,” he said

In other news – COVID-19: SA cases rise to 8895, death toll at 178
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa has risen to 8895. Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize also confirmed 17 more COVID-19 related deaths bringing the SA death toll to 178.
