South Africa’s COVID-19 death toll has increased by 52 in the last 24 hours.
Two deaths are from KwaZulu-Natal, three from Gauteng, four from Eastern Cape, seven from Western Cape, 15 from North West, and 21 from the Free State.
This brings the number of people who have succumbed to the virus to 15, 499.
As of Monday night, the number of detected COVID-19 cases in the country is 650, 749 with 956 new cases identified.
The Health Department has reported that 32, 429 health care workers had been infected with the coronavirus, with 257 succumbing to it.
“We continue to track the numbers of health workers who are infected in each province,” the Health Department said.
“Our system now has direct linkage with the persal system so that any health worker who is diagnosed with COVID-19 is immediately identified.”
